County Commissioner’s Court Puts Dump on May 9 Agenda!

Raise awareness! RAISE A SIGN!
In one short week, CALL has emerged and our cause has captured the attention of the community:
- We’ve been featured in the newspaper, on TV news.
- The Rio Grande International Study Center has heard our message and come out AGAINST the DUMP!
- Our online petition collected nearly 800 signatures in just four days.
Now, County Commissioner Wawi Tijerina has submitted a resolution to Commissioner’s Court to be discussed Monday, May 9.
Here’s the agenda item:
Issue: Webb County has a duty to its residents to protect the health, safety, and welfare of its residents and the public at large. The landfill project proposed by Pescadito Environmental Resource Center to be located within the county can create significant risks to public health and the environment and creates an unacceptable risk of pollution of waters in the Rio Grande River Basin and to the health of residents of Webb County. The proposed landfill is inconsistent with the type of growth that would be in the best interests, including economic interests, for the County and would likely have a negative impact on future growth in the County.
Solution: Oppose the landfill proposed by the Pescadito Environmental Resource Center.
Result: Protect the health, safety, and welfare of its residents and the public at large.
We need YOU to come out and help convince the commissioners to stand AGAINST the DUMP! A strong showing from a united community will help send the right message to our commissioners, TCEQ and most importantly, Rancho Viejo Waste Management. WE DON’T WANT A TOXIC DUMP!

TOTALLY, 100%, ABSOLUTELY, UNEQUIVOCALLY AGAINST THE DUMP. WE HAVE EOUGH CANCER IN LAREDO ……THIS WOULD BRING ON TOO MANY SETBACKS FOR THE CITIZENS OF LAREDO.
