Weekend rain kicks up San Juanito Creek through the proposed dump site

IMG_0913IMG_0910Here are two photos of San Juanito Creek, taken after the rains this weekend.

This creek flows through the proposed Pescadito toxic dump site.

A large portion of the proposed dump site sits in this 100-year floodplain.  However, this is how the creek looked after only two and a half inches of rain.

We urge you to speak out against this project now.  Please click here to provide your comment directly to TCEQ.

Hi Dear”s I THINK THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS THIS DECISION TO TURN IN A DUMSTER LAREDO TEXAS LAND FIELD…
I SEE EVERY DAY MANY TRUCKS WITH ESTRANGE SOIL COMING FROM IH 35 NORTH COMING FROM THE NORTH AND LINE UP TO THROW THAT SOIL IN THE LAND DUMP .
IT IS ALSO A CRIME THAT STILL CONTINUE TO EXIST THAT DUMP THAT ALREADY HAS MANY YEARS AND REACHES ITS CONTAMINATION THE EAST AND THE CENTER OF THE CITY OF LAREDO ..AND SHOULD BE CLOSED AND MOVE FAR FROM OF THE TOWN OF LAREDO ..

MANY PEOPLE AROUND THE DUMP ARE SICK AND THE ALERGIES ARE VERY ACTIVE ,,
LAREDO TAKING NOTE THAT ALWAYS RUN THE THE WIND SOUTHEAST THANKYOU APOLOGIES FOR MY ENGLISH IS NO GOOD THAT ,ADIOS BUENAS TARDES..AMIGOS.

TCEQ I as a taxpaying citizen of Laredo am pleading to all parties concerned not to put this proposed landfill in Laredo. The citizens of Laredo have enough issues to worry about. Without having to worry about our air and soil becoming contaminated with hazardous materials.

There is no 100 % safe way to prevent industrial waste, once it is buried in the ground, from contaminating the ground-Once this dump site is set up, it won’t be long before heavy metals will start showing up in the San Juanito creek-
This industrial trash dump must not be allowed to be set up

It is unfortunate that our city leaders would even consider exposing Laredo residents to, what might be, one of the most egregious, and potentially, harmful, actions taken against us, as citizens. We have seen how easily groundwater can become contaminated and cause illness and disease to those exposed to it. We will never know exactly what is being dumped, because everyone involved with making that decision, is blinded by money signs. We already have the largest inland port in the US, which exposes us to extra traffic and fumes in the air. What kind of airborne substances will we be exposed to with Pescadito? We must put a stop to the development of this project.
