CALL Launches PAC to Stop Carlos “C.Y.” Benavides III in attempt to buy County Judge seat

LAREDO, TEXAS — Citizens Against Laredo Landfill announced today that it has officially launched a Political Action Committee (CALL PAC) with the immediate objective of preventing Carlos “C.Y.” Benavides III from being elected Webb County Judge.

CALL PAC was formally filed last week amid growing concern from local citizens over what the committee describes as Benavides’ history of complety disregard for public health and environmental safety for personal profit. Also, his failed private ventures, including the rejected Pescadito Landfill, a project that collapsed after overwhelming community opposition and an 11-year battle with local residents, landowners, the county, the county floodplain administrator, state and federal regulators and the courts, a battle that cost millions of dollars.

CALL PAC believes Benavides’ track record demonstrates poor judgment, inability to exercise due diligence, complete disregard for public opinion, failed execution, and an inability to deliver on major projects — glaring flaws that disqualify him from managing county government and indicate he’s not to be trusted with taxpayer dollars.

“Benavides’s previously-proposed toxic landfill project demonstrated his lack of respect for public health, environmental impact or community opposition. That’s a pattern visible thoughout his career, where he has failed at every major private venture he proposed, including the Pescadito Landfill, and now he wants control of public tax dollars,” said Pamela Jordan, who leads CALL PAC. “Webb County cannot afford to let someone gamble

with taxpayer money after repeatedly failing in the private sector, especially one who has demonstrated his disregard for County government, the private sector and Webb County citizens, if there’s a buck in it for him.”

The committee further expressed concern that electing Benavides as County Judge would give him unchecked leverage to revive landfill proposals that voters have already rejected, this time using the authority and resources of county government.

CALL PAC also raised alarms over Benavides’ high-dollar, self-funded campaign that appears disconnected from grassroots support.

“This is not a people-powered campaign — it’s a money-powered one,” Jordan added. “We believe voters are watching an attempt to buy an election through massive spending rather than earned trust. Webb County is not for sale.

“But that hasn’t stopped him from throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars around in an effort to put every political operative and social media influencer on his payroll.”

CALL PAC stressed that its opposition is rooted in protecting residents, landowners, and future generations from environmental risks, financial mismanagement, and backroom decision-making.

The PAC plans to actively educate voters on Benavides’ history, campaign financing, and the potential consequences of placing county authority in the hands of someone the committee believes has already demonstrated repeated failure and disregard for what is best for Webb County.

“We already stopped the landfill once,” Jordan said. “We will stop it again — and that starts by stopping Carlos ‘CY’ Benavides at the ballot box”.

CALL PAC encourages voters to reject risky leadership and support candidates committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and respecting the will of the community.

“We urge all Webb County voters to vote ABC in March,” Jordan said. “Anybody But CY.”
